All bloodstream infections (BSIs) in pediatric hematology/oncology (PHO) patients, not simply central line–associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs), should be actively tracked as part of the Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders Network’s quality improvement efforts, according to researchers.
The CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network tracks CLABSIs, as well as mucosal barrier injury laboratory-confirmed BSIs. However, secondary BSIs and single positive blood
