Alter Statins Early at Your Own Risk

Patients who stop statins or have their dosages down-titrated after experiencing a suboptimal response or an adverse reaction may become vulnerable to future cardiovascular events, a new study has found.

To analyze the risk for recurrent myocardial infarction (MI) or coronary heart disease (CHD) in statin-intolerant patients, investigators from the University of Alabama at Birmingham examined data from a national cohort of 105,329 Medicare beneficiaries who were hospitalized
