Because chronic pain is a significant problem that affects up to 85% of those living with HIV, everyone with the infection should be assessed for chronic pain, according to new guidelines released by the HIV Medicine Association and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
Those with chronic pain should be offered a variety of options for managing that pain (Clin Infect Dis 2017 Sep 14. [Epub ahead of print]).
“I think it [the guidelines] is a long time coming,”
