Community pharmacists can start patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) on buprenorphine regimens and may provide a more accessible avenue for treatment than traditional care in a physician’s office or clinic, researchers reported in The New England Journal of Medicine (2023;388:185-186).
Telehealth with physicians was used to recruit patients into the program, which ran from February 2021 through April 2022. The results are part of an initiative to test a “no
