FDA Warns of Infection Risk From OTC Eye Drops

The FDA recommended that manufacturers recall more than 20 eye drop products sold over the counter in retail pharmacies across the country after agency investigators found unsanitary conditions and positive bacterial test results from environmental sampling in the facilities.

 

The FDA warned that the eye drops carried the potential risk for causing eye infections that could lead to partial vision loss or blindness. The agency has not received any reports of eye infections
