Interventions performed by health-system specialty pharmacists (HSSPs) for patients who don’t fill their specialty prescriptions with the system—due to either payor or manufacturer restrictions, or because the patient chooses an outside pharmacy—cost thousands of dollars per month, according to a new study from Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).
