Health-system pharmacies have had to deal with drug shortages for years, including shortages of opioids, parenteral and sterile IV solutions, saline solutions and other key drug products. These scarcities continue to place a burden on pharmacy managers to ration supplies or substitute alternative drugs. In an attempt to address these chronic shortages, the FDA announced the formation of a drug shortages task force, which the agency said will address some of the underlying
